Personal Meditation Tips
by: Jedi KidohdinI would like to share a few personal tips about meditation. This is not from a book, but from my own personal experiences. There are no time limits with this method. You just do it as long or as short as you want to:
First, I sit down is a comfortable position in a quiet, calm place. I usually close my eyes and relax. I like to meditate in the dark because it works best for me. I try to breath in a slow, relaxed manner.
The first stage of meditation is what I call "wool gathering". It means that the mind is free to go from thought to thought. I usually let the mind go ahead and do this for awhile. It's a natural process and it helps the mind to slow down. Some people try to restrict this 'wool gathering' process, but I think it's better to let the mind 'un-wind' in this way.
If some attachments (people or things) keep coming to my thoughts I use the "Big Box" method. Here is how: You think of a big black box sitting in front of you and outside of you, and you open the lid and put the distracting person or thing in the big box and then close the lid on them. The box is sound proof too so you can't hear or see them once they are in the box. You can put a whole group of people in the box if necessary. When I put people in the box, I always try to do it in a very loving and gentle way.
So by now all the distracting thoughts are either in the 'big box' or the mind is finally slowing down and getting tired of all that wool gathering.
Now I'm at the second stage. There are no more wandering thoughts, no more distractions, and your mind is calm. I usually feel a lot of inner peace and love at this stage. This is the calm that you want. It's refreshing and soothing. This is the calm and peace that is necessary in order to re-connect with the inner Force.
