The Force and the Five Pillars of the Jedi Temple

Subject: The Force
The Force is an energy field that is generated by all living things and permeates the universe and all things in it. It is clearly indebted to the "Odic Force" of Baron Carl Reichenbach. The Odic Force is a hypothetical vital energy or life force that permeates all living plants, animals, and humans. The Odic Force comes from the name of the Old Norse chief god called "Odin". You can find out more about it on-line if you want to.
The principles of the Force resemble some real-world religions like the Shinto religion of Japan, certain Celtic druidic concepts, Taoism and Zen Buddhism.
The Jedi temple is composed of five pillars symbolising the peace of the five pillars of Islam. Certain tenets of ascetic and mystic Christianity are also found in the Jedi teachings of the Force.
It also bears a close similarity to the Chinese notion of Qigong and many others. The earliest description of this "energy field" would be akin to that of prana, from Hinduism, of which pranayama is a scientific practice originating in India and a part of Yoga (which predates, and is the basis for, Chinese martial arts).

Dr.David Bohm, a particle physicist, postulated that conciousness was a property originating in the quantum realm. He called this most basic level of reality the implicit order. He believed there was a continuum of conciousness from the dimly aware level of subatomic particles to the more fully aware level of sentient life. Sounds a lot like the Force, and if so, some type of two way information exchange should be possible between all levels of the continuum.
