Where the Word Jedi Comes from
The word 'Jedi' is said to have been borrowed by George Lucas from 'jidai-geki' This is a Japanese word for "period dramas" or movies mainly about the Samurai warriors.
These Japanese movies about Samurai, hereditary members in the military service of a daimyo or the shogun (themselves samurai), inspired Lucas a lot.
This makes sense because Jedi sounds like Jidai. Like I always say, there's a lot of Samurai in the Jedi of Star Wars.
