Anger Versus Indignation Page One

YODA: "A Jedi's strength flows from the Force. But beware of the dark side. Anger...fear...aggression. The dark side are they. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight." – Episode V

I still want to talk more about Anger. Yoda clearly warned Luke about anger several times.

But what about indignation? Indignation is a ‘ strong displeasure– at something deemed unjust or wrong. It is also called ‘ righteous anger– . It– s the type of anger that gives you motivation to take action against a wrong or an injustice and isn– t considered to be fear based.

I believe that Yoda showed indignation during his fight with Count Dooku in Episode II.

Then should we use indignation and the energy that comes from it during a fight for self defense?

If someone is trying to hurt or kill you, you can– t avoid having strong emotions about it! During the fights that I have had, I just wanted to end it as quickly as possible, and used whatever means available to reach that goal.

If that would mean breaking a flower pot over someone– s head, I would do it! It is only human to have strong emotions if attacked. Adrenaline will be flowing and you will be very excited. Will indignation allow you to stay in control? I think so. Jedis only fight for self defense reasons, but that doesn– t mean that you won– t fight like a Wildman! You should fight as if your life depends on it, because it might.

Jedi always try to find a way to avoid a fight if possible. They will try to influence their opponent, through words or actions, in order to turn them away from a fight. If that fails, then a Jedi will be ready to defend himself/herself and others.
