Light over Darkness

Yoda and the Jedi Masters never fully explain the dark side. They talk about balance between the light side and the dark side, but they never explain why there is a dark side. The fact is that the dark side exists, and the Jedi have to over come it within them selves. This is the hardest challenge for a Jedi to face.
Mysticism teaches that the creation could not exist without the dark side. The soul is a radiant being of light and existed together with `The Force' eons ago. Qualitatively, the soul is composed of the same indestructible spiritual energy as `The Force' but quantitatively, the soul is but a small atom of that eternal spiritual energy. Actually, the soul is a part of the Force, just like a sunbeam is a part of the Sun. For some reason `The Force' brought the creation into being. Some say that the creation is a school for the soul. Some say that the soul couldn't appreciate what it had with `The Force', and that the creation was a means for the soul to understand that. Anyhow, the creation exists for whatever reason(s) that it does. I don't think that we can judge the creation. It was meant to be experienced, not judged.
In order for the creation to exist and function, the dark side had to be created by The Force in order to keep the souls located in the creation. Without the dark side the souls would exit the creation. Souls naturally don't like separation from the Force and would automatically return to The Force without the dark side to act as an anchor to hold them back.
Nothing can exist in the creation without soul energy to hold it together, so if the souls all left the creation at one time, it would fall apart. Even planets and stars have souls. The earth has a soul too and the ancient Greek's named her `Gaia'. So, according to the mystics, everything has a soul. The dark side of the Force only exists in the material universe, and is not found in the higher spiritual universes. The dark side is also known as Ego, or Lower Mind. Only few souls actually leave the creation at one time so it always holds together.
The human form is considered to be the only creature on earth that is wise enough to understand these things. Humans can over come and defeat the dark side within and ascend to the higher spiritual regions, but it is a difficult process. There also can be a lack of balance in humans between the dark side and the light side which doesn't exist in the other creatures. Humans have a choice which side they will follow, the dark side or the light side. Jedis always choose the light side and serve the Force. MTFBWY!
