I think my Jedi way breaks down when I get a certain pleasant mischievous amusement from flat out messing with people. In 7th grade the councilor said I would grow out of it. I always try to make it obvious so people 'know' - but sometimes if they people are kinda nasty, lying to me or otherwise "have it coming" -- I just go along business as usual and totally mess with them. It's evil and I'm trying to stop....but its flat out hard to resist sometimes.

Worse, I find it amusing.... *sigh. So many things to work on, only one life time.

"Hey, whats brown and sticky"
Smoker: a Stick
"Lung Cancer..."

You're not alone. Even when I make it blatantly obvious, there's always the one person who doesn't take the joke well. And quite honestly...if they were offended they coulda up and left at any time. But for some reason they always seem to stick around for the extra injury. *sigh*. The ones around here make it too easy. Why do I still do it then?

Simple. It's fun. Little on the mischevious side sure, but fun.

Is it "Un-Jedi"? ...Perhaps, but I've never been that "Jedi" to begin with :P

i only just noticed you said you wanted to stop, bad seven, to deny oneself is to well... deny yourself! how can you learn to be yourself if when you have fun or enjoysomething you stifle it, live for the moment... sure you might end up in hospital a few times, but you just have to practise harder

Wanting to get back at someone is natural. And no, it is not *necessarily* evil.

Just like letting a bully walk over you because you are "against violence" is not good either.

Some circumstances warrant defense, and retaliation. And sometimes that justice can be served by messing with their head... ooooh yeah.

... Just make sure YOU are still the one in control.

Yes it is. Mess, I take it, does not mean joke, or play rough, verbally or physically. Mess, as I felt your question, means to manipulate. If you do so, when the tides turn, the universe will mess with you back and you wont be able to do a damn thing about it. Since most of society is riddled with fear, messing is a way of testing one another's strengths, trying to find out who is the alpha male/female, etc. But as a general rule, if someone messes with you, try peace first, then attack in self defense if it does not work.
