Does anyone have any good love stories to share? It's getting closer to Valentine's Day and kinda in the mood to hear some stories of romance and broken hearts if anyone would like to share.
I met my mate online and we were just friends who decided to go hiking together to have a bit of fun and adventuring. I didn't really know he even liked me in any sort of romantic sense. We were always talking computers or Doctor Who -- we made each other fall down laughing at stupid jokes no one else on earth would get unless they had spent way too much time in an IT lab and in front of Star Trek.
First weekend was fun so he said he would return, I didn't even know he was driving 3 1/2 hours to see me at first.
Second weekend we went on a five mile bike ride that was actually 11 miles across country (in the mountains -- my bad, I was navigating). It was grueling and we ended up hitching a ride.
Third weekend I dragged him to a Renaissance fair with all my friends from near and far. We set in the shade and had a sexy fruit eating competition. We kept laughing so hard the fruit was in big trouble. (It wasn't very sexy).
Eventually (I think day three we saw each other) he said, "I love you" and I was so relieved I couldn't breath and finally said 'good' which he thought I meant dismissively.
It is nice to have someone to snuggle up against when its cold and to watch Star Trek and Doctor Who. (Not to mention he does eat my cooking, even the healthy stuff.) I was so particular & eccentric as a single that I thought the probability of finding anyone who could put up with me was limited to maybe 3 deaf mutes in Siberia. And we've had some spectacular disagreements but they're rare enough to suite me - and he knows I'll lob pillows at his head in a ferocious manner.
Anyway - that's my Valentines story.

Not to generalize, but women tend to be more mushy about how they met their guy. I'm not going to be all poetic about it, but I AM thankful that I have a wonderful friend and lover by my side, with whom I share a daughter, and the wonders of parenthood.
For us guys, it's more sexual. My current girlfriend, we got along well, and in between I realized she's also a cool person, so my win.
