Whatever.

Make me a site manager, I'll help you out. :D

Nah, seriously, I've had some experience as site manager, I have some ideas regarding layout, which seems minor but can have a major impact on community.

Send me your ideas and I will see what I can do. Not sure about site manager thing - last time I made someone site manager it didn't go very well.

I actually have a bachelors degree in web design, ten years experience on the web and my day job typically is webmaster although now I'm just teaching web design at a small college. I've worked on really big projects and know this sort of stuff inside and out -- but everyone is a critic.

I listen to everyone and sometimes people have great ideas, but a lot of times I get cursed out via PM for what amounts to utter BS because the person doesn't KNOW web design, doesn't understand the code or the navigation or any of the basics and won't listen to me or even kinda think that MAYBE, JUST MAYBE the reason I built this site and they didn't is that I understand the mechanics. I know you're not like that Manu, just saying....

I'm kinda getting sick of web design and am looking for a different career field. I love building web sites but am sick of people thinking its easy or that a monkey and a keyboard could do my job. I think cleaning cages at a zoo sounds like more fun.

All the transcripts, private e-mails and everything pertaining to you being banned Rage was posted in public, you crossed the line. Learn the lesson and move on.

I couldn't imagine doing web design as a career. I just can't sit at a desk and look at a computer screen for a full work day... *beat my head against a wall..lol*

Once you find a new career I can tell you doing it on the side makes it much more enjoyable because it's on your time and gives you a little side income which is how I do it. I run a small web design business, nothing fancy and it's on my terms which makes it great. I love it but I think if I did it for a living I'd be running for the hills..lol.

Sorry to sidetrack momentarily but just had to mention it, back to your reguarly scheduled program....

The only line I crossed was the line of inaction to taking action. I may have pandered to anothers ideas but my motives were clearly defined in my mind. It was never my intention to "take over" or "stab anyone in the back". The way I was made out in that scenario was like a horrible charicature of a Sith Lord from the books. The only thing I learned was that you can't help people who don't want to be helped(which I already knew) but I abandoned my better judgment to try and keep a valuable asset here. In spite of my efforts the situation was mangled, twisted, and distorted to make me look bad because I had to try and maneuver people into a peacefull coexistence because they were too stubborn to do it themselves. So I played both sides of the field? Big deal. I had my reasons, and they were noble despite what anyone thinks or chooses to believe. Sometimes you have to do what you don't want to do to get things done.

As for you Aryas. You have no room to talk to me about anything. The same guy who constantly pukes up these sermons of antisemitism, racism, intollerance, and satan worship is trying to call me out for trying to end a meaningless feud between two people too smart to be doing so? How rich! I have been watching you for a long time. I may not have been so active for a while but I have always been watching. You have for some reason or another received some kind of mercy that I have never seen anyone else get. The things you say regularly are reprehensible and classless, if most other people did as you do it would not be tolerated, but for some reason you of all people have been allowed to say the things you say, and perpetuate messages I can't believe have even been allowed to be spoken. Take a look at the man in the mirror partner. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone at me, and find yourselves empty handed.

As for the Sanctuary, like I stated before I think it will take our combined efforts to bring people back. Not just that, but some new ideas, defining the softly drafted lines, and setting out with some purpose.

So you don't agree with me, big deal.

The point of the facts you stabbed Seven in the back is there for all to see in the public posting of the logs. Telling me how much you don't loooveee me. Does not change it.

I know what you mean, I've seen you "battle" the nit-picking newbies who join only to correct bad spelling on the main site. And I appreciate that you don't consider me in the BS-criticism category.

Well, I don't have any CSS or HTML or whatever tips... that's YOUR field, not mine. And I like how new posts feed automatically to the main site. Design is good.

I would just mainly change the forums a bit:

As a new member, I felt lost when I first joined, so I naturally went to the NEW JEDI forum. But you can't find any "guidelines" there.

Then, I read the Lessons in the Force, which SEEMS like a main forum, but is just really Jedi Kidodhin's stuff. Which is cool, but it is made to appear as the main focus of the site.

Also, no idea why it is useful at all to separate PHILOSOPHY and SPIRITUALITY into two distinct forums, especially since you already have the Lessons in the Force forum.

My suggestion for forum layout:

Category: Front Desk

ABOUT US - A forum with basic information and site rules. Locked to new posts. That way people don't have any hard feelings when someone like Aryas comes in an pops there bubble. On the other hand, it also prevents Aryas from crossing the line from challenging ideas to plain out insulting others.

ANNOUNCEMENTS - With site/admin announcements.

NEW JEDI - where people introduce themselves, as is done now.

Category: The Cantina

GENERAL DISCUSSION

PHILOSOPHY AND SPIRITUALITY - where people talk about... *drumrolls* philosophy and spirituality.

Category: The Jedi Arts

USING THE FORCE - to discuss meditation, magick, occult science, psychic abilities, energy healing.

MARTIAL ARTS - to discuss defense, and physical training.

Category: Jedi Knights' Blog

KIDHODIN'S FORUM - with all his Lessons of the Force

SEVEN'S FORUM - with all the Training Arena stuff.

Well, that's all the BS I have for now. But the main issue is: offer something, then stick to it. As of this moment, you offer nothing at Jedi Sanctuary, except some half-assed bitching and a decent post in the Training Arena from time to time. Mad is not bad, but pointless is not good either.

I like those ideas Manu and I'm going to re-arrange things when I get back. I get to go hop a few airplanes and go on a great adventure this week (EPIC!). I can't wait, and will tell you all about it when I get back (can't say anything in advance, don't want to jinx it!) But next week I'll or so I'll get back to the site and re-arrange it.

Not sure how to make a point or purpose to this web site -- it's just, well, it's what a person needs it to be when they stumble across it I guess. Any thoughts?

Xhaiden - Agreed - 8 hours is just too much, side work is much more satisfying. I just think I'll hang out and work on this and that until the universe sends me larger projects. I have a few small items I'm working on at the moment - not so much to pay the bills (I make more money from putting junk for sale on eBay) but because its fun and I enjoy it.

Rage -- everyone can make up their own minds about that - but what really irritated me is when you were placed in charge here you erased the story that a lot of us put a lot of time and heart into. My friends Kisagod and Nomicus have long moved on and it would be nice if at least that story was around to remind me of them.

Have a nice trip... take lots of pictures (especially if this journey of yours involves the beach) 8)

As for purpose, it CAN be very broad, no problem. But it does need "some" limits, especially where it relates to forum etiquette (as a matter of fact, you could go as far as proclaiming the jedi sanctuary as Anti political correctness) :D

Just remember, respect is good. Calling people on their BS is awesome. Using BS to intimidate others into not sharing... not so much.

*Waves hand* You will take pictures...

I think that time for video etc. may be now. If there is a way to make some video presentations for the curious that would lead them to this site somehow.... There is also the question of linking up with other Jedi organizations. The time may be here for some serious promotion... in any case, we should unite privately shold it come to the end. I just got here, but the sight is good and user friendly and even if it keeps a few of us together it is worht it as well. I will tell my friends about it.
