I actually have a bachelors degree in web design, ten years experience on the web and my day job typically is webmaster although now I'm just teaching web design at a small college. I've worked on really big projects and know this sort of stuff inside and out -- but everyone is a critic.
I listen to everyone and sometimes people have great ideas, but a lot of times I get cursed out via PM for what amounts to utter BS because the person doesn't KNOW web design, doesn't understand the code or the navigation or any of the basics and won't listen to me or even kinda think that MAYBE, JUST MAYBE the reason I built this site and they didn't is that I understand the mechanics. I know you're not like that Manu, just saying....
I know what you mean, I've seen you "battle" the nit-picking newbies who join only to correct bad spelling on the main site.

And I appreciate that you don't consider me in the BS-criticism category.
Well, I don't have any CSS or HTML or whatever tips... that's YOUR field, not mine. And I like how new posts feed automatically to the main site. Design is good.
I would just mainly change the forums a bit:
As a new member, I felt lost when I first joined, so I naturally went to the NEW JEDI forum. But you can't find any "guidelines" there.
Then, I read the Lessons in the Force, which SEEMS like a main forum, but is just really Jedi Kidodhin's stuff. Which is cool, but it is made to appear as the main focus of the site.
Also, no idea why it is useful at all to separate PHILOSOPHY and SPIRITUALITY into two distinct forums, especially since you already have the Lessons in the Force forum.
My suggestion for forum layout:
Category: Front DeskABOUT US - A forum with basic information and site rules. Locked to new posts. That way people don't have any hard feelings when someone like Aryas comes in an pops there bubble. On the other hand, it also prevents Aryas from crossing the line from challenging ideas to plain out insulting others.
ANNOUNCEMENTS - With site/admin announcements.
NEW JEDI - where people introduce themselves, as is done now.
Category: The CantinaGENERAL DISCUSSION
PHILOSOPHY AND SPIRITUALITY - where people talk about... *drumrolls* philosophy and spirituality.
Category: The Jedi ArtsUSING THE FORCE - to discuss meditation, magick, occult science, psychic abilities, energy healing.
MARTIAL ARTS - to discuss defense, and physical training.
Category: Jedi Knights' BlogKIDHODIN'S FORUM - with all his Lessons of the Force
SEVEN'S FORUM - with all the Training Arena stuff.
Well, that's all the BS I have for now. But the main issue is: offer something, then stick to it. As of this moment, you offer nothing at Jedi Sanctuary, except some half-assed bitching and a decent post in the Training Arena from time to time. Mad is not bad, but pointless is not good either.
